Day 3: “At the end of a mess is a…”

Wanting to get the most of our night sleep, we have designated Wednesday as our skill enhancement day. We do not have to wake up early every Wednesday, and we only need to complete two subjects during the day. The rest of the day will be spent doing anything.

We scheduled music (voice/music) lessons during the mid-day. Then, on to our faith development at church at night.

This leaves our morning mostly vacant. This week, we decided to get some baking done using a chocolate brownies recipe from Annabel Karmel‘s First Meals. We rebel out of the recipe for a little bit by trying out different kinds of chocolates (e.g., 60% cocoa, dark cocoa, etc). I think in the future I would like to try those chocolates bars with orange filling on it or put an orange zest into our mix.

It was a mess with all the chocolate and butter melting. The cocoa powder is all over the place. Enough mess and great smell that captures our little tot’s attention.

After an hour we have a yummy chocolate brownies that lasted for two days.

It’s a mess all right. We tried different kinds of chocolates to combine with our brownies recipe.
..and our third grader is very excited to use the shifter for the first time.
Brownies anyone? Those moments when mess is all worth it.
